PRESCOTT VALLEY EARLY BIRD LIONS CLUB

MISSION:

The Prescott Valley Early Bird Lions Club’s primary service is to provide eye exams and eye glasses to those in need in the community.

AGENCY SELF-DESCRIPTION:

Over 500 children and adults receive these services with the club paying for the exams and lenses. The club also collects used lenses that the community can deposit at various businesses. These lenses are used to recycle for use with new lenses.  In addition, the club helps families with special needs or financial help as well a contributing to various community organizations such as the Yavapai Food Bank, Adult Literacy, Meals on Wheels, Little League, to name just a few. The club provides scholarships for graduating high school seniors and for those that have graduated and are continuing their education. Three graduating seniors are selected based on their service to the community and their scholastic achievements. Lions International sponsors various activities for youth and the club participates in these events, such as Essay Contest and the Peace Poster contest. In addition, the club also supports state, national and international Lions services, such as Leader Dogs for the blind, Guide Dogs of the Desert, Camp Tatiyee for the physically impaired and other Lions International foundations.  All funds for the service that the Prescott Valley Lions Club gives to the community are from the club’s foundation. All money received from the various projects go to the foundation for distribution. In addition, the club is a Tax Exempt 501C organization and is eligible to receive donations for the Arizona State Tax Credit for the Working Poor allowed under A.R.S. Section 43-1089.
