BUENA VISTA CHILDREN’S SERVICES

MISSION: Buena Vista Children's Services is a community-based nonprofit organization that designs, develops and implements model programs for children. Programs address emerging needs in the areas of child care, education, parenting, special needs, resource and referral. Buena Vista Children's Services fosters innovative programs and leadership to enhance the quality of life for children in Yavapai, Navajo and Apache Counties. AGENCY SELF-DESCRIPTION: Corporate-Sponsored Child Care: Verde Valley Medical Center partnership provides quality infant – preschool age child care to VVMC employees at a corporate discount and is also open to the public. Call Bright Futures Child Care (in Cottonwood across the street from VVMC) at (928) 649-1330. /Discovery Connection Out-of-School Program: Provides quality out-of-school time programs to children and youth in the Verde Valley utilizing a Multiple Intelligence based integrated curriculum. Discovery Connection provides a safe space for children during out-of-school hours offering academic support and opportunities for creative expression through the arts; developing the Whole Child. Programs located at 19 E Beech St in Cottonwood. (928) 649-1330. /Quality Child Care Consultants: Provide technical and hands-on assistance to the startup, development and management of quality child care programs. DES Certified Child Care Home Providers: Department of Economic Security – Child Care Administration – Child Care Recruitment and Study in Yavapai County (2000-present) and Navajo and Apache Counties (2010-present) and Coconino and Gila Counties (2016-present), recruits and provides technical assistance to potential as well as seasoned home child care providers. Call 928-451-5755 for Yavapai and Coconino Counties and 928-451-6800 for Navajo, Apache and Gila Counties./ Buena Vista Preschools: Provides quality preschool programming to pre-K age children utilizing research-based curriculum aligned with Arizona State Standards and local public school curriculum including special needs and site-specific inclusion. Located in Cottonwood (928) 649-1330. /Early Childhood Conference: Annual conference held in February or March targeting issues related to young children. Buena Vista also provides monthly trainings targeted to emerging focuses in early childhood education. /Children's Celebration: An annual free event held in early April highlighting and promoting agencies that provide services for children and families. Event includes lots of hands-on activities for children and performances by local children, as well as a Kindergarten Fair, and more! Call 928-301-9105 for information on Events. /Child Abuse Prevention Grant: To provide the community with information and education about child abuse and child abuse prevention including Tax Check-off campaign, April Children's Celebration, an annual conference, and Blue Ribbon Campaign, as well as ongoing child advocacy efforts at the local, regional and state levels. Councils in Verde Valley and Show Low- Holbrook. /Buena Vista Lending Library: Buena Vista invites community members, early childhood educators and parents to utilize Buena Vista's vast resources in a professional and expanding library full of books and materials. This library is free and open to the public. /Professional Development Training: BVCS provides FREE  trainings and technical assistance to those in the early childhood field in Yavapai, Coconino, Navajo and Apache Counties. The training topics vary and include CSEFEL, PCAN, Inftant/ toddler, School age, special needs, Directors Toolbox and much more.
