AGENCY SELF-DESCRIPTION:

Early Childhood and Family Education: Provides services to families of children between the ages of birth to 3 years who have hearing or vision loss (vision impairment and blindness that is documented in a report from an eye doctor; hearing impairments and deafness that have been identified by an audiologist) to families and children living in Coconino, Yavapai and Mohave Counties. 

Services are provided in the family’s home and may include: information on the hearing or vision loss; support in communicating with the infant/toddler; information on the child’s development; and coordination with other community resources. Audiological testing and vision screenings are available through age 3.

The Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind provides a variety of programs to children and youth from birth through 21 years of age who are blind or visually impaired, or Deaf/Hard of Hearing, throughout Arizona. Arizona Services Offered Assessment - Provides assessments for students and training for staff in assessment, communication, deafblindness, and low vision.  Community Outreach Programs - Does outreach to identify eligible children who might profit from services offered. Information and Referral - Provides information about education of deaf and blind in Arizona. Refers to appropriate services. Transition to Preschool - Works with families and local school program to provide transition to preschool. Support for Parents - Offers parent education and support groups.
