CENTRAL ARIZONA FIRE AND MEDICAL AUTHORITY

MISSION: Protecting life and property through prevention and response.   AGENCY SELF-DESCRIPTION: Public education in the areas of life and fire safety. CAFMA teaches in schools monthly during the school year and for neighborhoods and community groups as requested.  CAFMA also teaches juvenile firesetters classes to juveniles that are caught playing with fire. CAFMA also supports Car Seat installations; 3 technicians  are certified child safety seat technicians. CAFMA attends several trade shows by request and their table consists of trivia questions for all ages regarding life and fire safety.  The following are the scheduled modules to be presented during this year's school program: Kindergarten: Be a Safe Pedestrian; Stop, Drop Cover and Roll; Crawl Low Under Smoke; Know Your Firefighter First Grade: Call "9-1-1" to Report an Emergency; Firearm Safety; Choking & Poisons; Matches and Lighters are Tools Not Toys Second Grade: Practice Vehicle Safety; Use a Home Fire Escape Plan; Bicycle Safety; Consequences of Firesetting Third Grade: Bullying; Be a Happy Latchkey Child; First Aid/Cool a Burn; Practice Water Safety Fourth Grade: Use and Maintain Smoke Detectors; Practice Cooking Safety; Conduct a Home Hazard Inspection; Understand Firearm Safety Fifth Grade: Practice Basic Electrical Safety; Internet Safety; Bullying; Be a Fire and Life Safe Babysitter.
