AGENCY SELF-DESCRIPTION:

North Central Regional Cooperative is one of 5 cooperative programs thoughout the state of Arizona. These cooperative programs are an educational partnership assisting in individual educational programs for students between the ages of 3 and 21 in Coconino, Yavapai and Mohave counties. Certified teachers of the Blind and Visually Impaired, certified teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and qualified staff in the areas of Audiology, Orientation and Mobility, Sign Language and assessment and evaluation may be available to eligible students in the local school district programs. Audiological testing and vision screenings are available ages 3 - 21.

The Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind provides a variety of programs to children and youth from birth through 21 years of age who are blind or visually impaired, or Deaf/Hard of Hearing, throughout Arizona. Arizona Services Offered Assessment - Provides assessments for students in language development, listening skills, communication, deafblindness, and low vision. Computer Training/Assistive Technology - Offers training in the use of assistive technology. Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training - Provides training in visual development, auditory/sensory, and independent living skills. Cooperates with rehabilitation counselor as a part of Individual Transition Plan beginning at age 14. Early Intervention/Infant Services - Early Childhood Education Program provides outreach services to families of children from the ages of birth to 3 years. Education Services - Offers the following programs: grades K-12, college preparatory, general academic, vocational skill development. Employment/Job Training - Coordinates with Vocational Rehabilitation to provide pre-vocational evaluation, career and skill counseling, occupational skill development. Refers and provides consultation to other agencies for other employment services. Information and Referral - Provides information about education of deaf and blind in Arizona. Refers to appropriate services. Libraries/Alternate Media and Learning Resources - Maintains a library with services for use by blind/visually impaired. Low Vision Services - Offers low vision and initial ophthalmological examinations. Provides low vision evaluation and follow-up. Prescribes and supplies low vision devices. Support for Parents - Offers parent education and support groups. Travel/Orientation and Mobility - Provides orientation and mobility training.
